Side by Side 36 Bottle Wine RefrigeratorCompact Two Temperature Wine Storage With the FWC36 Franklin Chef 36 Bottle* Side-by-Side Built-In Wine Refrigerator you can store your white and red wines at perfect temperatures side by side. This unit has two compartments, each separately controlled to give you most flexibility of any wine cellar on the market. You can set one compartm for storage at 55F and one for white wine service at 46F. Or maybe you want your reds at service temperature too, just set one thermostat for 62F. However you want to arrange it the sleek, black-finished Side By Side Cellar makes it easy. Each compartment will accommodate up to 18 bottles at the temperature you select. And its remarkably affordable. Special features include: Dual interior lights Dual double pane glass doors Separate locks for each door Dual temperature equalizing fans Slide out chrome shelves *Capacity is based off using standard 750 mL size bottles, using larger Pinot Noir/Rhone size bottles may limit the capacity.
I have this installed under a counter and made sure I had air space on each side and about 1/2 inch above it. The unit has been working very well, it keeps both sides at the temperatures I set without issue. Even through power outages the insulation has held the temps well within tolerances (1.5 hours is the longest outage I've had). As a note, it is installed beside a dishwasher (4 inches of space between them) so the opportunity for outside heat influence to change the temperature is possible, but it still holds temp.
I do ding it for the noise of the fans. They are louder than other fan sounds from a U-Line fridge/freezer and are probably amplified by the under counter install as it creates a bit of an echo chamber.
I didn't realize it when I bought it, but a feature that I now consider essential for this style unit (in a bar, under the counter) is the tilted racks at the bottom of each space. We don't always finish all bottles in a sitting so having the ability to cork it and place the bottle back into a properly conditioned tilted rack is great! Nice for that special bottle of Port too. If you are considering or searching for an under counter unit for a bar as a staging area versus your wine cellar, or if you only need to keep 20-30 bottles of wine, feel comfortable this will work very well.
